This is a lengthy post but I believe well worth your reading time. Consequently a large chunk of my week is devoted to staring at some sort of screen, lighted or not. But it's not backlit, the light is directed to fall at an angle on the the screen, it's not coming from behind the screen straight at your corneas.

There are reasons that economists say monopoly is bad and this is one of them. The Kindle Paperwhite has long been one of our favorite ebook readers, and the refresh for 2018 makes it even better. There's one other thing worth mentioning; perhaps due to that faster E Ink display or just simply good software , I actually found using the onscreen keyboard for notes and searching to be a relatively painless experience.

All I want for my kindle is blue light reduction : kindle

Personal experience: I am an owl. Most Persians like to stay up at night which has been practiced for thousands of years probably due to the Silk Road culture not sure. For example one of our celebrations called Yalda is a party at the longest night of the year. Google it Unfortunately because of my culture, I've always had difficulty going to bed earlier than 4am. Fun but very destructive at the same time. So I would use my phone to surf web, watching videos, etc. Since I got my Kindle Paperwhite, I just fall kindle paperwhite blue light after around 30 minutes of reading with the backlight on almost half brightness. It actually has cured my sickness. Now I go to bed around 11 pm while reading on Paperwhite. Even though I wake up around 4 am which I don't like seems my body likes to be awake at nightbut I feel better than before in general. In conclusion, if you're looking for a technical answer to just know if it's blue-light as some scientific info, I have no clue about the tech used in this device, however, if the results matter to you practically, then this is what I've experienced as an owl which is repeated in most of the comments in this page as well. Since results matter to me, I don't care about the technology used in this device and I'll keep using my kindle in bed. Just so you know, Kobo has an e-ink reader that you can turn the light color towards more red which reduces blue. However, it has less variety of books and mostly higher book prices than Amazon. I'm writing this kindle paperwhite blue light after 6 hours of sleep at 5:50 am. Reza, If the Paperwhite was backlit it might make it harder to fall asleep. But it's not backlit, the light is directed to fall at an angle on the the screen, it's not coming from behind the screen straight at your corneas. More so, the light is adjustable, the lowest setting barely visible in complete darkness not enough to read by in complete darkness either. Granted the light is of a more blue spectrum, but if you keep it to a low setting that still allows you to read without straining this can also be helped by adjusting the font sizeit really shouldn't be a problem for you. I don't really see a reason to use that function in bed. Turns out I feel no negative impact on my ability to fall asleep. At least not from the kindle, my bedpartner is as hot as an oven though.

They simply provide the filter colors and shades and allow another light source to bounce off of it and to your eyes indirectly. Kobo Aura One vs Kindle Paperwhite — Display So what about those all-important screens? I really wish Amazon could implement this somehow. A final note: a lot of people will be wondering if this kind of screen can be too bright to read in a dark room, and I'm happy to say that given the granularity of settings on the brightness control, reading on this display was completely comfortable in any environment I put it in. Technically The light emitted from it is a blue spectrum and affects the proper functioning of melatonin. The takeaway for Kindle-reading passengers is to listen carefully to all announcements from the flight attendants and pilot and, if required, to turn off your Kindle during takeoff and landing. There's also a dropdown menu that allows you to dig deeper into settings and other options. That's why it hurts to do so for extended periods of time.
